Cross Country season starts at USATF NC Championships
You feel it in the air first. It’s a little more crisp, and some might say more clean. The sun lingers longer at the horizon as it rises, and the grass stays damp with dew. In the eternal calendar of the distance runner, the end of summer means one thing: It’s cross country season.
That’s what normally happens (or maybe “happened”) as September commences. These aren’t normal times. So even if we don’t get the benefit of all the feels here in the Triangle, the calendar tells us it’s still cross country season.
For Bull City Track Club, that means defending some state titles at the USATF NC Cross Country Championships for Men’s and Women’s Open and Masters divisions.
This year’s race is Saturday September 26, in Oxford, NC, as part of the Central Children’s Home Cross Country Festival. Registration increases from $25 to $30 on Monday, September 7.
- Check out the USATF NC Cross Country event page for details.
- If you are interested in participating on a BCTC squad, contact Marc Jeuland at marc@bullcitytrackclub.org.
If you’ve never run a cross country race, this is a great introduction. If you’re a cross country diehard, you’ll appreciate what the race organizers are building.
Note that you must be a USATF member to race. See USATF Membership for details. When registering, use BCTC’s USATF team number: 13-0881
