Come run with BCTC at these fall events!
Hello BCTC!
Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, there are a number of upcoming events we want to put on your radar. The list below is a combination of races that we saw strong interest in from the club in the results of our recent survey, local events we want to support, and opportunities for team racing/socializing. We hope you’ll put them on your calendar so we can have a strong BCTC showing at each one!
- Running of the Bulls 8k, May 30th, Durham: A Durham running community and BCTC staple! BCTC members get 15% off registration – head to the deals and discounts page for the discount code.
- Beat the Heat 5k, July 18th, Winston-Salem: Includes an open 5k race on a fast course and a separate elite race for the 2026 RRCA National Championship 5k. Those interested in entering the elite race can find qualifying standards here.
- BCTC Summer Camp, August 21st – 23rd, Black Mountain: Escape the Durham heat to enjoy a weekend of running and socializing with your teammates in the mountains. We’ve reserved a lodge at the Blue Ridge Assembly, but we need at least 20 people to commit by May 28th. The cost per person is $225, which covers lodging, Friday and Saturday dinner, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. To join the fun, sign up and pay your registration fee (which will be refunded if we do not hit the 20 person minimum by May 28th) on the BCTC website HERE.
- On Track 5k, August 29th, Durham: There’s a new race headed to Durham County Memorial Stadium. Details are still getting hammered out, but mark your calendars to save the date. And if you don’t plan on running an evening 5K on the track, we will definitely need volunteers.
- Blue Ridge Relay, September 11th, Grayson Highlands, VA to Asheville: We currently have a Masters Mens, Grand Masters Mens and Open Womens teams registered to represent BCTC at this year’s relay. If you would like to run Blue Ridge Relay and are not currently part of a team, contact Anna (anna@bullcitytrackclub.org) – we will determine if there is enough interest to fill an additional BCTC team and reach back out to those who expressed interest.
- Richmond Marathon, Half Marathon and 8k, November 14th, Richmond, VA: BCTC usually has a strong showing at Richmond to enjoy this fast and scenic course just a short drive from Durham. Many members who completed the survey had this race as part of their fall plans this year, so we look forward to seeing BCTC singlets take over the streets of Richmond in November!
- Shakori 40 Running Festival, December 5th, Pittsboro: We would love to put together one or more BCTC teams for the 40 mile relay at this fun local event. The course is a 4 mile loop with a mix of grass, gravel, and single-track terrain – nothing too technical. A great intro for those looking to dip their toe into trails and cross country! If you’re interested in being part of a BCTC relay team, contact Anna (anna@bullcitytrackclub.org).Â
- USATF Club Cross Country Nationals, December 12th, Norton, OH: A chance to travel and run as a team with other clubs from all over the country! This is open to BCTC members of all paces and no prior cross country experience is necessary. We want as many teammates as possible to join us for this event so we have the best chance of fielding complete teams in all categories (open women and men, masters women and men). If you are interested in running with BCTC, contact Marc (marc@bullcitytrackclub.org).
- Southern Tour Ultra, January 16th, Wilmington: Similar to Shakori 40, we are eager to see one or more BCTC teams come together for this 50 mile relay. The course is a 5 mile loop of sand, grass and single track terrain – very accessible regardless of trail/cross country experience level. If you’re interested in being part of a BCTC relay team, please contact Anna (anna@bullcitytrackclub.org).Â
We look forward to making memories with you on and off the road the rest of this year!
Rattle Rattle!
