Purpose
Why we exist
Originally founded in 2009 as the running club associated with the Bull City Running Company retail store, Bull City Track Club was independently incorporated in 2025 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
According to the Club’s formal statement of purpose: “The Club is a welcoming and inclusive community of runners of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, united by a shared passion for the sport of running, fellowship, and giving back. The Club provides training opportunities with a focus on improving fitness and goal setting by fostering camaraderie within a team environment, which members believe is the key component for consistency in training and progression. The Club identifies several goal races throughout the year to participate in as a team. To facilitate these opportunities and meet goals, the Club hosts group runs, fun runs, training runs, running events, and programs on the road, track, and trails. The Club also strives to educate its community about running-related topics through events, clinics, the Club website, and other education programs. With a strong commitment to volunteerism and charitable giving, the Club aims to uplift and support local causes to ensure an impact that extends beyond running paths.”
Community Fitness. BCTC conducts many organized training runs each year, all of which have no entry fee and are open to the general public. BCTC offers insured training opportunities at a variety of venues.
Athletic Development. The Club offers a competitive teams program that supports Bull City Track Club athletes of all ages in USA Track & Field Championships competitions at the state and national levels.
Representation and Service to the Sport. BCTC is an active member of both USA Track & Field and the Road Runners Club of America. BCTC members seek to participate as committee members of each of these national organizations, and BCTC responsibly represents North Carolina within those organizations. In addition, Bull City Track Club plans to serve the national organizations as a host and conducting organization for USATF regional and national championships.
Education. The Club maintains an internet website to support the local running community. BCTC and its partners conduct and support a variety of instructional seminars and clinics for a range of audiences.
